This body of work is a collection of paintings and drawings which is a pure representation of experiences that journeys beyond the domain of speech – it is what I refer to as ‘painted’ poems.
In the heart of gestural brush strokes together with printed shapes and forms, the juxtaposition of abstract and representational mark -making coexist in the single white space. This work was born from a period of research undertaken to observe the methods of graphic and calligraphic means of representing poetry.
